The Dragon Head that has been crocheted for this pattern, was made using Stylecraft double-knit yarn. Any double-knit/3 weight /light will work for this pattern

Red 90g
Copper/ginger 60g
Gold/red 32g
Polyester toy stuffing
Safety Eyes 30 mm - please note that attached eyes are not recommended for toys created for children. I used dragon eyes that I ordered from amazon.

Tapestry or Darning Needle used for sewing motifs together.

Stitch markers

Hook size needed
2.50 mm

Using this weight yarn and size hook will give you a dragon head roughly measuring
12inches/30 cm length - top of the horns to the bottom of the head

13.5inches/35 cm in width - Gill to Gill

13.5inches/35cm depth - back of the head to the tip of the nose

If you are planning to make your Dragon Head in a heavier weight yarn, adjust your hook size accordingly. Use the smallest hook size possible for the weight of yarn that you are using. You need the stitches tight so the stuffing doesn’t show too much between stitches.

I recommend making a test motif to gauge tension to make sure your motifs are tight.
