Dragon Age Nug
I love Dragon Age. I love nugs. And I love crocheting. I was looking for some nice crochet nug pattern, but I did not found any I liked enough, so I decided to design my own. Because … nug just HAS TO have fingers (even though it is really annoying to make them, because they are so tiny and it would just make the whole work easier if I just omitted them)
Anyway… I am no designer. This is the first pattern I have ever created, so I am certain, some parts are messy and could have been made much easier or better, but well…. This is what I have made.
I hope the instructions will be clear to you, I have really tried to explain everything properly and included also a lot of pictures. I guess there is a chance of some mistakes. I hope there will not be any, but if that happens… I recommend you to improvise (if possible) to get the correct amount of stitches in the next round. It may not seem like very professional advise, but that is what I was doing all the way… just improvising to get the desired shape. Also with most of the bigger parts… I think it would not be even visible, if there was one stitch more or less…
The pattern is free for any Dragon Age lovers (and non-lovers also), so please feel free to put the link to the pattern wherever you like but I would appreciate if you would not upload the file itself to different pages. Because then I would not be able to do any updates in those copies in the future (should I decide to do some)
Notes and supplies:
-
everything is crocheted in continuous rows using stitch marker to mark the beginning of each row
-
head, body and tail are crocheted in one piece, ears and legs are sewn to the body.
-
parts in are repeated
-
number in () at the end of each row is number of stitches you should have in that row
-
body is stuffed firmly, legs just lightly as they need to be flattened and sewn to the body, ears are not stuffed at all
-
the legs contain wire to keep the shape better and to allow the nug to stand properly
-
the assembly: I have first sewn the eyelids and nostrils to the head, then ears and then legs. I recommend to first use pins for all the legs to make sure you find the correct positions for them, so the nug will stand properly. The legs shape can be altered bit by bending the wires.
-
the nug is approximately 18 cm tall (ears included) and 23 cm long (this can vary depending on the size of the hook and yarn you use)
-
used yarn: two balls of light pink Jeans/Gina (no. 74) from YarnArt
-
crochet hook: 2,5 or 3 mm, depending on how tightly you crochet
-
wire to make the legs keep the shape better
-
safety eyes (10 mm)
