Learn new techniques and have FUN !
Dragon Breath offers fun and rewarding knitting experiences even to experienced knitters. This design starts with a circular shape, and then through the magic of short rows, it is transformed into the rounded, crescent shape form, which I love.
- Learn to make the very cool Soleil cast-on - my very own!
- Use modified version of Lynne Barr’s CAPs (Continuously Applied Pieces) method to knit the lace edge (Dragon Flames!!) continuously without breaking the yarn.
- Start with a circle and transform the shape to a crescent.
Yarn
Fingering weight yarn, using 3 colors with high contrast
A: 320 yds (290m)
B: 320 yds (290m)
C: 150 yds (137m)
Shown in Tosh Merino Light, Citrus (A), Havana (B), and Cousteau (C).
Beads
Beads are optional. However if you choose to use beads, here are the numbers:
420 seed beads total, size 6/0 (189 beads in the center - 3 rounds 63 beads each - and 231 beads for the outer edge. I used Toho seed beads).
Needle
4mm (US 6) circular needle 40” (100cm) to 60” (152”)long.
