I’m pleased to bring you the Dragon Dance Bag crochet pattern. The gorgeous colors in the Lion Brand Landscapes yarn in colorway Volcano reminded me instantly of a dragon. I was contemplating a name for the bag as I was designing it. My daughter saw it and said it looked just like the dragon dance from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Shedescribed it as a swirl of red, orange, purple and black. So, it fits! Thank you for my wonderful daughter Kayla for the suggestion and for modeling the bag!

The bag pattern is very straightforward and is at the confident beginner level. The base is two round pieces crocheted together for sturdiness, and the main part of the bag is worked in spiral (continuous, not joined rounds) which makes it work up quickly. I’ve included detailed instructions, including step by step photo tutorial for the optional dragon scales.

One skein of the Landscapes yarn is enough to make the bag as pictured. An additional skein is needed for more scales.
