Dragon Skies
This pattern is in the overlay mosaic crochet method and written in UK terms.
It is suitable for absolute beginners wanting to try mosaic crochet as it uses simple double and treble crochets only and has both the written pattern and the chart with Xs marked.
You can use any yarn. Different yarn weights will alter the size of what you make and you will need to adjust your crochet hook accordingly. I used 4ply yarn with a 3.5mm hook and a 4mm hook for DK yarn.
My gauge is 17stitches + 17 rows = 10cm with DK yarn.
This pattern as a cushion cover (first photo) measures 19 inches x 24 inches, with 4 ply yarn.
The pattern as a table or bed runner measures 46 inches by 13.5 inches with DK yarn. Each segment of two dragons measures roughly 23 inches in DK yarn.
Both of the patterns, two dragons per pattern, are written over a 90 stitch repeat and can be swapped around according to what you are making.
For the DK bed runner I used Cygnet Watercolour - Crimson Forest and black, approximately 160g of each.
For the 4 ply I used a limited edition cotton cake from Hobbii and used the inside for the background and the black from the outside for the dragons, approximately 1 yarn cake (200g).
