Dragon Unicorn Pops
Dragon Unicorn Pops is an asymmetrical triangular shawl made from one corner. It uses “assigned pooling” to create a lovely shawl.
What is assigned pooling? Assigned pooling (sometimes called applied pooling) is a technique where you switch to a different stitch when you encounter a specific colour within a skein of variegated yarn. Switching to a different stitch produces a different texture. Assigned pooling works wonderfully with yarns with short stretches of colour interspersed with long sections of another colour.
Tools and Materials:
- 3.50 mm (E-4) crochet hook – or appropriate hook for yarn weight used
- tapestry needle and scissors
- approximately 100 g / 340 m (3.5 oz / 375 y) fingering weight yarn that includes at least one short colour change – sample shown used 1 skein of Sleipnir by Dragon Strings in colourway Roy’s in the Clouds Again
Sizes: One size (adjustable). Size can be altered by increasing or decreasing the number of rows crocheted.
Gauge: 18 stitches and 14 rows in 10 cm (4 in), however, gauge is not critical to this pattern.
