Dragonflies over the Waves
Dragonflies flitting over waves on a pond, what a stunning shawl, simple but elegant. I love dragonflies, with their slender bodies and delicate wings. When I got this blue yarn, I thought how it looked like the color of water, then imagined dragonflies flitting above the ripples. Thus, my shawl was born.
This asymmetrical triangle shawl starts at one point and grows along one edge. The dragonfly and wave patterns are repeats that allow you to adjust the length of your shawl to use up whatever yardage of yarn you have.
Yarn: I used Expression Fiber Arts “Luster” Sport, 395 yards (361m) per skein, 2 skeins OR approximately 780 yds (720m) of similar sport, dk weight yarn.
Gauge: 22 sts and 27 rows = 4” (10cm) using US 6 (4mm) needles.
Finished measurements: 57” (145cm) long by 40” (101.5cm) wide.
Skill level: Intermediate to advanced; you need some knowledge of knitting lace, various yarn overs, bobbles, increases and decreases. I give instructions on how to do these stitches, so you can learn how to do these as you knit this shawl.
