Dragonfly Filet Shawl
Filet chart for a shawl with a dragonfly & flowers.
Each point has a flower oriented towards the point, so that when worn they will be right-side-up in the front.
The slope on the sides is 2 cells for every 3 rows. This makes is slightly complicated; 2 stitches per row gives the desired increase. See the chart for a suggested method of doing the increase. Note that I did treble crochets on the edge (or 4 chains when starting the row); this gives a more graceful increase.
In filet crochet, you have two main options when making a filled cell above an empty cell: you can put your DC into the chain, or around the chain. With crochet cotton, I personally find that going around the chain is substantially better for my sanity.
Filet crochet is not difficult; it is just chains and DC (& TC on the ends, if desired). The slope of the edge on this shawl does make it an intermediate level project. You could also change the slope to make it easier.
The bottom edge was done using Around the Edge Border #24. Instructions on that edging are not included, since it isn’t mine to include. The book is useful to have around.
