Shawl Construction
A triangular-shaped shawl starting with a garter stitch tab with increases at each end and along the spine on every right-side row. We start our knitting adventure at the top of the shawl with simple lacework dragonflies. Celtic legend talks about the dragonfly as a magical creature and a symbol of transformation. The shawl contains a field of flowers lacework, which is a simple yarnover and knit two together. Since this is called a yoga shawl, the design incorporates 108 simulated mala bead bobbles. Beads are used in meditation and yoga practice for concentration and mindfulness, so with this shawl you will have the beads right at your fingertips. There are garter stitch rows, in between the various designs, providing rest periods and at the end of your shawl knitting journey, a decorative picot edge. This shawl is perfect to wear to your favorite yoga class or to wrap around yourself while sitting in a field of heather while watching the dance of the dragonflies.
