Excerpt from Bargello Knits
The popularity of this rectangular-shaped garment with its dramatic downward points inspired this design. I knew that a bargello border would corral the chaos of the natural pooling created by a short color change yarn.
Errata: The armhole instructions should say 40 stitches instead of 30 sts to place onto waste yarn. Then when you undo the waste yarn, place 80 sts (not 60 sts) onto the circular needle to work the armhole edging.
If you are adventurous, work the piece without the armholes then use the afterthought buttonholes technique to place the armholes exactly where you want them. The link is from TECHknitter’s blog.
