When the cold winds rustle through the trees, the earth lies dormant, dreaming of spring… dreaming of vines with flowers and new leaves unfurling in the strengthening sun. Join her in Dreaming of Spring Lace Shawl.

There are two endings available for this shawl. The original one alternated a lace section and a lacy leaf section. The alternate ending is just the lacy leaf section repeated. The differences start around the middle of Chart 3.

Supplies:
Yarn: Lace (700-800 yards) or Fingering (920-1100 yards)Gradient, tonal, or solid color yarns recommended.

Beads: 664 Size 6 or 8 depending on yarn weight (see below)

I would recommend using lace to fingering weight yarn for this shawl and adjusting the needle size to match. Your tension as a knitter will impact the final shawl size and amount of yarn you use. The finer the yarn, the smaller your finished shawl will be. The lace version used 700 yards. The fingering versions ran from just over 900 yards to 1100 yards.

Beading is present, but not overwhelming. I would recommend beading this shawl as it adds a little sparkle throughout the shawl and is a way of easing in increases. Use size 6 seed beads with fingering yarn, and size 6 to 8 beads with lace yarn. You may also use different beads and sizes. If you want you could use a larger bead (size 3 or 4) as the center of the flowers, another bead color as the spine in the leaves, and a third bead color in the mesh of the shawl. Keep it simple, or play with the beads in this design.

Currently this design is only available as a pattern with Charts. It is very intuitive once you get into the flow of the design.
