Dreamy Snowdrops Beret
SPECIAL OFFER: 50% discount when you use the coupon code “Snowdrops2024” to purchase either of my Dreamy Snowdrops patterns - Beret or Socks - before midnight February 29, 2024 (CT).
The Dreamy Snowdrops Beret is an addition to a series that began with my sock pattern by the same name (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dreamy-snowdrops). This project is great for using up leftover yarn. What better gift item than a handknit that can slide off your needles in a day!
The Dreamy Snowdrops beret is worked bottom-up in the round. The band is in garter stitch and the body a simple lace repeat incorporating decreases to produce a “star”, followed by simple tie-off. Blocking is required. As a final touch, add a crocheted stem for the traditional beret - or a pompom for a tam.
This multi-generational pattern is written for 3 sizes with varying depth options for fingering, DK and worsted weight yarns, resulting in 7 finished sizes from newborn to adult. The pattern is charted with written instructions.
Sizing and Fit
The beret band is worn snug around the head, allowing negative ease of about 4-5 cm / 1.5-2 ins. Measure the head circumference around the forehead and above or over the ears depending on how the hat will be worn.
Yarn
Lacework shows up best in naturally smooth fibres. Select fingering-weight yarn for sizes newborn to 3 years; DK yarn for sizes 3 yrs to adult M; worsted weight for adult L-XL. Yarns tested for this pattern include:
