Dreamy Weave Cardigan ~ English Edition
Written pattern, 4 pages PDF with photos

This cardigan is knitted in soft warm alpaca, perfect for fall and cooler days. Using the basket weave stitch technique, the jacket is knitted back and forth on the needle. This old knitting technique requires odd numbers, and creates a beautiful woven pattern, like a fabric from a dreamy, ancient fairy tale… ?
The jacket is knitted with two strands of yarn, for subtle changes in color and shade.
But as long as the gauge is approx. 15 sts in 4 inches you can follow the pattern with the yarn of your choice.

The cardigan is wide, and will fit most women in a range of sizes!

Approximate measurements*
Body circumference: 42 in (S) - 49 in (M) - 53 in (L)
Full body length: 25 in (S) - 26 in (M) - 27 in (L)
Sleeve length: 14-15 inches

  • Based on the gauge 15 sts = 4 inches - knitted in basket weave stitch with two strands of yarn

The model is wearing a size L

English and French editions.

About the yarn:
You can use any soft wool; alpaca or merino (or a mix of the two), with shades in natural colors, as long a the gauge is approx. the same as in the pattern.
No need to use two strands, I did it to achieve the variegation in shades/colors.
It is easier to knit with one strand.

NB!
An error was found in the first PDF-version in the cable (braided edge) description.
Please note the correct procedure:
“Slip 7 sts in the back of your work, knit the next 2 sts,
then knit the 7 slipped sts. Purl one stitch.
Slip 2 sts in the front of your work, knit the next 7 sts,
then the 2 slipped sts.”

The pattern is now corrected and updated, and updates have been sent to all buyers.
