Formations are a must in the military. And in those formations, a person is lined up with the person on their left, right, front and back. Nothing is out of place. Everyone move in sync like a well-oiled machine. This is what is called Dress Right Dress.

This pattern contains two versions. Why? Each formation has a different style and purpose. Version 1 produces a line in the body of the sock. This reflects the formation called Pass and Review. The commanders stand on a platform while the formation goes before them. This is a formal changing of the guard ceremony usually done as the old commander passes command to the new one. Version 2 eliminates that line. This reflects the everyday semi-formal formations. While someone is in charge of the formation, that person does not stand out.

For best results, use two high contrasting colorways. One colorway can be speckled or variegated, but they should be contrasting. Go wild with one and tonal with the other.
