Drifting Vines
This large crescent shawl is knitted in a silk lace yarn and uses the old vine lace motif. It is knitted from the centre top down to the border in one continuous piece. The shawl is knitted on relatively large needles and blocked to reveal the open nature of the lace.
The blocked piece as I knitted it measured approximately 60cm deep at the centre back, however the final size will vary according to both yarn and needle choices. The final size can also be adapted by altering the number of some of the repeats as indicated within the pattern.
Both charted and written instructions are included in this pattern.
Requirements:
3.75mm needles
100g or 600m of lace weight yarn. 1 skein of Green Tea Yarns Ginseng (Heavy Lace) 100% Mulberry Silk, in colourway Under the Kurrajong used here, with only 1g left over (I am not a tight knitter).
My two lovely test knitters did slight variations on the pattern. Nickiknitz did the full size and added beads, while daphner made a slightly smaller shawl. Both are divine!
