Driftwood
The driftwood shawl was designed during a lazy beach weekend. I had a lovely ball of soft, cotton-blend yarn, and a vague idea of making something to keep my neck and shoulders warm during early evening walks. With delicious texture, easy shaping, and options for a smaller scarf or a larger wrap, you’ll be able to make a wrap that uses most of your available yarn and keeps you cozy and stylish no matter where you choose to roam.
I made samples with 2 different cotton-blend yarns -
Lion Brand Comfy Cotton blend (DK weight) - sadly this lovely yarn has been discontinued, but it is still around, and it is perfect for a lightweight wrap.
Knit Picks Comfy Color Mist (worsted weight) - this yarn also works well and is a similar weight, even though it is labeled as heavier.
Gauge is not terribly important, but I do recommend using a hook at the large end of what is recommended for your chosen yarn, or even one size larger in order to get the proper drape.
