This hat was inspired by the stitch pattern I used for the ‘Droman’ sweater in issue 2 of The Journal of Scottish Yarns. I wanted to use colour changes in the rows to accentuate the peaks and troughs that the stitch sequence creates.

It’s also a great design for using up smaller amounts of DK yarn.

The Droman Hat is worked in the round, joining and turning at the end of each round on RS and WS from the base of the body up to the top of the crown, then straightened at the base. The ribbing is worked back and forth in rows separately, then sewn onto the base.
