“A favourite method of deriving unexpected patterns is to cut an existing chart and drop one half of it downwards, making the join where it best forms a new pattern. … Slight adjustments have been made, the decreases either side of the central vein of the leaf have been reversed to give a rougher texture to the fabric which is more in keeping with the leave of the Elm.”
