The Drop Cross stitch (also called the Indian Cross stitch) looks very involved, but it is easy to master. This elegant cowl is beautiful knit up in gorgeous DK weight alpaca - please use a solid color to show off the stitches! A long cowl that can be doubled, or you can make 2 short cowls with one skein of yarn for quick impressive gifts. The needle size may seem large for a DK weight yarn, however you want the stitches to open up. If you are a beginner knitter, I recommend that you practice the Drop Cross stitch on some scrap yarn before you start the project. There are several you tube videos showing the technique - search ‘drop cross stitch’ or ‘Indian cross stitch’.
