Drop Sleeve Boat NeckPullover
A classic boat neck cardigan in Worsted weight yarn. It’s easy to knit and requires no neck or armhole shaping. The shoulder seams are joined using the 3 needle bind off method. So, only the side and sleeve seams require joining by hand.
A great pattern for beginners getting to know their mid gauge knitting machine. It can be knitted as is or used for picture knitting. It also looks great with stripes if you would like to use up your scraps of yarn. You could even use self-patterning yarn.
Prepare a swatch according to the instructions in your knitting machine manual to check the tension before you begin this project.
The neckband, and other ribbing was created by hand manipulating 3 x 2 rib for the hems and 1×1 rib for the neck. Any Mid gauge knitting machine can be used but be sure to check the tension before you begin. If the machine has a ribber attachment, the ribbing can be made automatically. Hand knitting the ribbing is also an option.
This pattern was knitted on a LK150 using two different yarns both Worsted Weight 100% acrylic.
The first yarn (red) was using TD 7 to get the correct tension for the larger stitch.
The second yarn ( self striping) was using TD 8.5 to get the correct tension for the larger stitch.
So, it is extremely important to knit a swatch and get the correct tension for any project.
Yarn requirements from various companies will vary.
