Drop Stitch Wrap
A drop stitch pattern that has smaller “drops”, so they don’t catch on everything, which I have found is a problem with the larger drop stitch patterns.
It can be as small as a 51/2” wide scarf and using 2 skeins, a 16” wide wrap that is about 50-52” long. For a larger, longer wrap, you will need another skein.
Gauge is not essential-but- if you are a tight knitter, you will need to go up a needle size to get a nice drape in your finished garment.
NOTE:
A few questions have come up that I need to clarify the st count.
You will need to add sts in multiples of 8 to get the desired width garment- scarf, wrap, etc. there is a minimum # of sts needed- 22 and you can keep increasing by 8 to the desired width.
Row 1 of the pattern begins with Knit 5- this is NOT a border, then follows a repeat in ( ) which you will work until there are 5 sts left to work, which means the last repeat of the pattern would end with k4, then k1. I chose to end the wording with knit the last 5 sts instead.
Another way to read the first row is-
Knit5, (yo,k1,yo,k1,yo twice,k1, yo, k1, yo, k4) repeat across to last st, k1
I hope this helps to clear up any misunderstanding.
