This beginner pattern is good introduction to colourwork and a perfect way to use up leftover super bulky yarn. The pattern is worked over a 4 stitch repeat with short floats.

Part of the Pandemic Pattern Bundle: A series of beginner-friendly patterns designed to help people find a new hobby while they stay at home.

You will need:

  • 2 balls of Lion Brand Thick and Quick or other bulky yarn (I only used half a ball of each)
  • 9mm (size 13) circular needle (24”)
  • Stitch Marker

Notes:

  • Your gauge should be 9 stitches by 12 rows = 4” X 4” on size 13 needles

  • For those new to colourwork, “floats” refers to the strands carried across the back of your work

  • You don’t want your floats to be too tight or loose so this might require some practice - bulky yarn makes this easier.
