Dropped For Improvement Slouch
Pattern edit: It’s been brought to my attention there is an error in rows 1-6 of the pattern. It will be corrected shortly but for now the edit is posted bellow. The asterisk is replaced by {} here for readability.
Row 1-6: {k1, 2x(p2, k2), p2, k3, 2x(p2, k2), p2, k1} three times (two for baby)
This hat was the first pattern I designed from scratch. I have always had trouble with beanie style hats because I not only have a very small head, but I also tend to look bald or masculine if I wear a tight hat. This prompted me to design a hat that would be forgiving and comfortable. While this is a unisex design, the slight peak the dropped stitches can make on one side of the face can make the hat look slightly more feminine when worn by women. The main thing to remember when knitting this pattern is that it becomes much looser once the stitches are dropped and then picked back up so you want it to be tight around the base during construction. The length is not effected so make sure it’s long enough to slouch before you begin the finishing steps.
