Drumbeg Hat
Drumbeg Provincial Park is located on Gabriola Island overlooking scenic Gabriola Passage. Drumbeg offers excellent views of the Strait of Georgia and the Coast Mountains on the Mainland. The park contains a kilometre long sand and pebble beach with striking sandstone and conglomerate rock formations, which can be seen at low tide.
Drumbeg Park protects endangered Garry oak ecosystems, undeveloped Douglas fir forest landscapes and a diverse marine zone. Species such as Bald eagles, Great Blue herons, harbour seals and American oystercatchers can be spotted here, along with a number of intertidal creatures.
I fell in love with this place on a trip with friends and could not get the colours and texture combinations out of my head. After almost a year of percolating in my head, this pattern finally got its day in the light thanks to me being stuck in bed recovering from a work place incident that resulted with a broken ankle and back.
This pattern is my recovery in knitted form. It allowed me to sit back and look at the view. What is really important in this world and what you should just let the waves carry away.
