Description

Drumlin is Old Gaelic for “ridge,” since the stitch creates the same ridge-like texture on both sides.

The stitch is easy to execute and knits quickly. It produces an appealing texture in one color and a tone-on-tone or high-contrast effect in two colors. Colorwork is simple: Only one color is worked on a row and there’s no stranding involved.

Strip construction keeps the project compact, portable and pleasant to work on in any season. The modified three-needle joining method looks polished, preserves drape and makes seaming easy.

In combination, the stitch and strip construction strategy make it easy to transform lonely singletons or problematic variegated yarns into something pretty, practical and productive.

The pattern is written for worsted weight yarn and includes a handy guide so you can readily customize width, length and yardage.

Skill Level

Drumlin is suited to any knitter who can cast on, knit, purl, slip stitches, pick up stitches and bind off.
