Dry Creek
The Shawl-Along is over, but you can still access all the YouTube Live recordings with techniques!
When my family and I left San Francisco and moved up to wine country in Sonoma County, we landed in the lovely little town of Healdsburg…before it became an international attraction. We took many bike rides through the Dry Creek Valley, a wine growing region that also grew the best peaches I’ve ever tasted. I miss them so much!
Questions and Answers:
Q: Which color should be used to swatch? A: Less of the second (border color) is used, so there’s more leeway there. If you’re at all worried about running out of yarn, swatch with the second color.
Q: Do I have to cut my yarn after swatching? I might need to use it. A: You don’t need to cut it! You can knit a little extra on your swatch so that you can wash the swatch and pin it to dry while still on the needle! It’s easier to do this if you use a circular needle, as you can put the stitches on the cable and stretch the swatch more. After you’ve gotten your measurements, just unravel the swatch and then steam out the kinks to get the yarn ready to use again!
Welcome to my first summer shawl-along! This shawl was designed using two colors of bamboo fingering weight yarn from Theodora’s Pearls (shown as DizzyLettuce here on Ravelry), 1 skein each, at 400 yards per skein.
The entire pattern will be released digitally on July 15, 2020 and there will be a zoom introduction with tips and tricks! This is not a mystery; you’ll see the whole shawl before we start, and if you follow me on Instagram you’ll have already seen me knitting it!
The pattern will be broken into 5 pieces total, with a 4pm (Pacific time) zoom intro streamed live to Youtube for each section, and each one week apart. You will receive access codes to view the streams, and if you are unable to be there “in person,” you will be able to access the recordings on my YouTube channel.
We will be knitting together in the @Romi’s Studio forum, and there will be some yarn shops participating in the KAL. I’ll be popping into zoom KALs to say hello and I hope to see you!!!
Feel free to substitute yarn, but please do not choose a yarn with less than 400 yards.
