Dryocampa
Dryocampa rubicunda, the rosy maple moth, is known for its bright color and endearing fluffiness. This shawl, whose five-panelled shape is inspired by the moth’s outstretched wings, is equally inviting. It drapes especially gracefully and securely because of the beads running through it.
The increases that shape the shawl are made by pulling the yarn through beads, so it also requires about 320 size 6/0 beads, or beads large enough to fit a loop of your yarn. For attaching the beads, I used a short piece of beading wire folded in half, but a very fine crochet hook could also work depending on your beads.
If you prefer not to use beads, you can replace them with yarn-overs without changing anything else.
Special thanks to judebug for her invaluable test knitting.
