The Dublin cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top down, starting with knitting the saddle shoulders. The back and then each side of the front are worked down from the shoulders and then joined and worked to the bottom. The sleeves are each worked from the top down, using short rows to create the sleeve cap. The button band, and finally the collar are picked up and knit to finish the sweater off.
It’s an elegant cardigan to throw on with just about any outfit, making it a versatile piece to add to your travel bag.

Needles
Needle A (for body and sleeves): US #6/4 mm (or size needed to obtain gauge) long circular and DPNs or your favourite style of needle for small circumference knitting.
Needle B (for bottom cuff, button band and collar): US#5/3.75 mm (or one size smaller than that needed to obtain gauge) long circular.
Needle C (for sleeve cuff): US#4/3.5 mm (or two sizes smaller than that needed to obtain gauge) DPNs or your favourite style of needle for small circumference knitting.

Notions
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scrap yarn, ten 5/8”/16 mm buttons.

Gauge
22 sts and 35 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch worked flat with Needle A, blocked.
