Dublin
This is the eighth (the seventh doesn’t yet have a pattern page) sock of a year-long “Club” of patterns. The entire collection includes 12 sock patterns (plus a few bonus items), representative of different world cities. Click the source page or purchase the club to find out more about the world tour of 2021. The pattern is, therefore, only available as part of the collection until 2022
Is this a cliche? Lots of cable work for something to represent Dublin, Ireland? Well, if it is or not, I do like both the city and these cables. They’re work, but they’re fun. It’s a variation on the traditional chain cable with loads of tinier cables thrown in for fun.
Skill-level: Intermediate— lots of cables, and sock construction, but there are also rest rows.
Yarn: 350-400 yards of sock yarn. The socks pictured are a large size and used approximately 380 yards of Yummy 2-ply from Miss Babs in the color Fraser.
Needles: US1 (2.25mm) sock needles, the pattern is written for both DPNs and Magic Loop.
Tools: Cable needle, if necessary, tape measure, scissors, tapestry needle
Gauge: 8 stitches and 12 rounds per inch (2.5cm) worked in stockinette.
Sizing: Small (Medium, Large, Extra-large sizes measure approximately 8(9,10,11) inches in circumference, all other measurements are adjustable to size and preference.
Note on sizing: The cables pinch in a bit. If in doubt or between sizes, please size up.
