Duck Soup
Its luscious texture is the star of the Duck Soup beanie and slouchy.
I named it Duck Soup because it’s ridiculously easy to make: one simple stitch -- an hdc variation -- is repeated over and over again in joined-and-turned rounds. Also, going with the duck theme, my first sample hat was crocheted in a pale blueish green color called Duck Egg. So lovely!
Duck Soup is perfect for those times when you want to work a repetitive stitch pattern so that you can de-stress.
The only tricky part is remembering to turn the work after each round, as both sides of the fabric are identical. But a stitch marker placed on the right side is helpful here.
The hat is worked to an ear-warming depth of 11 1/2 in./29 cm for the ultimate cozy winter hat. The brim can be turned up once or twice or not at all when worn as a slouchy.
