Duffle Knit-and-Felt Bag
This bag is knitted loosely in the round, then felted in the washing machine. Textured stripes give interest to the finished design. During the felting process the bag will shrink and become much sturdier. The exact size of the finished bag will depend on the wool and felting temperatures used.
It is ESSENTIAL that you use a yarn that is not a machine-washable or superwash variety. Ideally the yarn should be 100% pure wool. Typically you will require 300g of the main shade and 100g of the contrast. It is important that the felting characteristics of the two yarns are the same - eg two shades of the same breed, or two dyed versions of the same wool.
Instructions are given for a knitted square base AND for a circular crochet base - giving two options for making the bag.
