Dulse Bubble Cowl
The Dulse Bubble Cowl is a long loop knitted in the round using a simple tuck technique in natural shades of pure wool. The knitting magic of this stitch creates two very different sides, the bubbles on the knit side and smocking on the purl side, resulting in a deceptively complex look when the cowl is wrapped double.
The stitch pattern is inspired by Dulse seaweed. Scientists have found evidence to suggest that feeding sheep Dulse helps to reduce the amount of the greenhouse gas methane that they produce, which I thought was rather interesting. Mature Dulse has bubble shapes on the ends of its blades, hence the idea for the stitch.
