Dumber Than Snake Mittens
Errata: Some of the gusset instructions are missing. On Row 67, k1fbf.
On the odd-numbered rows following that, where the pattern reads “gusset”, k1fb, k to the last st of the gusset, k1fb. You may find it useful to mark the beginning and end of the gusset with stitch markers if you are not used to gussets.
On Row 83 there should be 17 sts in the gusset, which you will slip to a stitch holder or waste yarn to be picked up later.
These fingerless gloves are knit in the round with a gusset thumb and feature a charming snake-shaped cable.
One size should fit most, but can be adjusted by switching to larger/smaller needles and yarn, or by adding or subtracting stitches from the large section of stockinette on the palm side.
You will need two beads for the eyes (size 6/0 used in the original pair, but other sizes work as well) and a piece of scrap yarn for the tongue.
The pattern includes a both a chart for the cable and written directions for the rest of the glove.
These are not called “Dumber Than Snake Mittens” because I think that snakes are dumb, but rather in response to a challenge…
