In the ocean, octopuses are usually solitary creatures, but these little cephalopods like having friends!

This pattern creates a baby octopus, which you can make into a dumbo octopus by adding “ears” (or fins if we’re being scientifically accurate). When designing this pattern, care was taken to capture the fluid-like motion of the octopus, giving it a sense of lifelike movement. This medium-sized toy measures approximately 19cm/7.9in, so it fits comfortably in the hands of young and old alike. The velvet yarn makes for a pleasant tactile experience. Although the pattern is designed with bulky velvet yarns in mind, most yarns should work for this project.

This Dumbo / Baby Octopus pattern is made in the round. Experience making amigurumi is helpful, but not essential.
