Make your own adorable cephalopod! The Dumbo Octopus is, quite possibly, the cutest cephalopod in the sea. The deepest living of all known octopus species, the Dumbo Octopus moves around its deep sea habitat by flapping those floppy “ears” (actually fins) for which it is named. Though the genus includes at least 15 separate species, they are exceedingly rare, with some species only recently identified by scientists.

Pattern includes instructions to make your own Dumbo Octopus. The 22 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Dumbo Octopus. PLUS there is a 6 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make a Dumbo Octopus / Flapjack Octopus using Worsted weight yarn.

Recommended for INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and more complex stitches (detailed in the pattern glossary).

A finished Dumbo Octopus made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 5.5” tall and 5” wide across the mantle.

To make an octopus using Worsted weight yarn you will need:
135 yds Main Color yarn
G (4/4.25mm) crochet hook (or preferred amigurumi hook)
18mm or 24mm safety eyes
Poly-fil or other stuffing
Darning needle
