Dune Grass Socks
We have gone back to the beach for the inspiration for this sock. I love to visit the Dunes in Bouctouche with its boardwalk and beautiful beach. The boardwalk is 800 metres long and protects the fragile dunes and grasses below it.
The sock comes in 3 sizes and is knit from the toe up with my rounded toe. It has a gusset, a German short row heel turn and slip stitch heel flap for a fantastic fit. The pattern includes an easy to calculate measurement to make sure that you start your gusset in the right spot. There are also video tutorials to support you through this sock construction.
Fun columns of knit stitches using a tuck stitch to make the fun “seed heads” on the blades of grass. There is a video tutorial to show the stitch combination which is quickly memorized and enjoyable to knit.
The pattern looks great on lots of different types of yarn…Give it a try! Check out my tester’s project pages for inspiration.
1 skein of fingering weight yarn. I used Lush Fingering from Gingersnap in the Speckled Sage colourway
Huge thanks to my test knitters Leanne D, Heather J, Jo-Anne, Rochelle, Heather E, Tamara, Linda, Sue, Lois, Nawaal and Leanne W. for their feedback and their beautiful socks.
