“Knitting Fair Isle in a chunky roving yarn is so much fun, and the motifs really make an impact!” says Mary Henderson. “Inspiration came from traditional Sanquhar colourwork motifs - scaling up the box pattern and mixing it with a large floral design in bright colours created the effect I was looking for. The Retreat yarn from West Yorkshire Spinners is positively cuddly, and is definitely one for curling up with in front of the TV. It comes in a lovely palette of colours, too.”
Mary’s cushion is knitted in three parts, with an eyelet buttonhole band.
