Durumagi(두루마기) Cardigan

The Durumagi Cardigan is inspired by Traditional Korean Hanbok (Dress), Durumagi. Durumagi means “to block or protect in general purpose” in Korean and used as outerwear for men since 12th century.
This top has been made with different yarns. One is made with three strands of fingering yarn to bring out a traditional Korean color weave texture; the other is made with tweed wool to give a lighter textured look.
The Durumagi cardigan is knitted from the top down, in flat. The Durumagi is knitted from the neckline to shoulder with raglan increases. Once the shoulder line is created, cardigan is divided into sleeve and body. Then upper back and front of body is knitted first and joined to create sleeve opening. Once body and sleeve is completed, then front hem is created.

The unique button enclosure is based on Traditional Korean Hanbok button called Lotus flower button (연봉 단추).
