Mochila Bag - Dutch Folk-Art
If using the recommended yarn, you will need three 50 gram skeins of the main bag color, and one 50 gram skein of each remaining color. If you would like to use the same materials to make a strap or drawstring cord, you may need to purchase more materials.
This is a Mochila Bag Pattern generated using a beading program. It is a charted pattern, and does not include written line by line instructions. The image displayed for the bottom of the bag represents only 8 increases, but in order to have the correct number of stitches to match the sides, you must have a total of 10 increases (total 240 stitches on last round of bottom). I have isolated the portion that needs to be repeated, and have marked the increases for your convenience. This pattern is recommended only for those who have experience with the Mochila technique, and may be too challenging for beginners. Mochila is a type of tapestry technique (you carry all yarn colors throughout the entirety of the bag); the primary difference being that the stitches are made into the back loops only. Otherwise the stitches will not stack on top of each other correctly, and the pattern will not look quite as it should.
