This tam is knitted in the round, fair isle knitted. You start with the brim and end with the crown. You only knit on the right side of the hat.
After a depth of 12cm/4,75inch you start to decrease. Because of the way you make these decreases you will create ‘ridges’.
The tam fits an average headsize up to 56cm and has a height of 12cm.
Most rows you knit with 2 colours. You always use colour A, but the other colours will change.
Do not carry yarn over more than 3 sts without twisting colors on WS to prevent long loops.

I knitted the tam on the photo with my own hand dyed yarn, fingering weight (366m - 100gr), Soft Singels, 100% Superwashed Merinowol, in the colours Soft Pink, Cornflower, Cherry, Grey and Lilac Pink. I used a total of around 60 grams.

• I used a circular needles of 80 cm (32inch) (and used the ‘Magic Loop’) or you can use DPN’s in 3mm/US 2
• Tapestryneedle
• Stitchmarker

Gauge: 32 st x 34 rows in fair Isle = 10 x 10 cm / , blocked, using 3mm needles. You can always change your needlesize when your swatch is different in size.

De muts is in het rond in de fair isle techniek gebreid. Je start met het boord en je eindigt bovenop. Je breit alleen aan de goede kant van de muts. Na 12 cm hoogte ga je minderen terwijl je de bovenkant breit. Je ziet daarbij een soort ‘richels’ ontstaan. De muts is geschikt voor een gemiddelde hoofdwijdte tot 56cm en heeft een hoogte van 12cm.

De muts op de foto heb ik gebreid met mijn eigen handgeverfde wol: fingering weight (366m - 100gr), Soft Singels, 100% Superwashed Merinowol, in de kleuren Soft Pink, Cornflower, Cherry, Grey en Lilac Pink. Ik heb ca. 60 gram totaal gebruikt.

Ik heb verder gebruikt:
• een rondbreinaald van 80 cm (en de ‘Magic Loop’ gebruikt), je kunt natuurlijk ook breinaalden zonder knop 3mm gebruiken.
• borduurnaald
• steekmarkeerder

Stekenproef: 32 steken x 34 toeren in fair isle = 10 x 10 cm, geblokt, gebreid met 3mm naalden. Wanneer de afmeting van je proeflapje afwijkt, kun je je maat van de naald(en) aanpassen of je krijgt een grotere of kleinere muts.
