I’ve made Dylan the dolphin using a super chunky #6 weight plush yarn. This is ideal for a soft and huggable toy and is a quick make - you can make your dolphin in a few hours. Dylan can also be made in a smaller weight yarn, with a smaller crochet hook. He is 11.5 inches long in super chunky plush yarn (in Aran weight yarn he is 7 inches long).

The 8 page pattern is intermediate skill level and is available in US and UK terminology – both versions will be available for you to download. It is clear to follow with detailed instructions and lots of pictures for step by step making and assembly. There are also picture instructions for invisible finish.

The following stitches/techniques are used in this pattern:
US Terminology - slip stitch, magic ring, single crochet, half double crochet, increase, decrease (sc2tog), invisible finish
UK Terminology - slip stitch, magic ring, double crochet, half treble, increase, decrease (dc2tog), invisible finish

Recommended Materials:

  • Yarn: I have made Dylan using Hobbii Baby Snuggle Solid (super chunky weight yarn) - colour and weight details in pattern
  • Hook: 5mm (H) crochet hook
  • Stuffing: I use polyester filling
  • Safety eyes: I have used 12mm plastic safety eyes, but you can embroider the eyes on if you prefer
  • Large yarn needle
  • Pins
  • (A stitch marker and row counter are useful)
