Dylan's Elephants
A lightweight cardigan for a baby or toddler, with a string of double-knit elephants parading around the hem.
The elephants are worked in double knitting, which means the inside of the band is just as attractive as the outside. If you prefer, it is possible to work them in stranded knitting instead, with the same pattern, but there will be long floats of non-working yarn, so you will need to weave your floats in every few stitches, and you may wish to work a plain folded hem to cover the floats, and prevent the edge from curling.
Sizes: 0-3 months (6-12 months, 12-24 months, 2-3 years)
Yarn: 245 (325, 410, 500) metres of superwash sock yarn for MC, and 70 (85, 95, 105) metres of superwash sock yarn for CC to knit as the blue and slate sample cardigan.
The pattern includes approximate yarn requirements for each section to allow you to adapt your colour choices according to the available yarn (this is a great pattern to use up ends of sock yarn!)
The sister pattern, Violet’s Dragon, is also available.
