Dysautonomia Wrist Warmers
This pattern was designed during dysautonomia awareness month, and textured with turquoise, the awareness color of dysautonomia. It features a delicate aran pattern that mimics ribbing, for an elegant yet simple fit.
“For those of you who may be thinking “dysauto-what?” - dysautonomia is an umbrella term used to describe different medical conditions that cause a malfunction of a person’s autonomic nervous system. Even though most people have never heard this term, dysautonomia is actually very common. Some forms of dysautonomia are fairly mild, while other forms can be debilitating, or even fatal. “ -Dysautonomia International
I have POTS, one of the most common forms of dysautonomia. It is estimated to impact 1 out of 100 teenagers and, including adult patients, a total of 1,000,000 to 3,000,000 Americans.
I will be donating $1 of every pattern sold to http://www.dysautonomiainternational.org/ please visit their website to learn more about POTS and dysautonomia.
Poor circulation is one of the common symptoms of POTS and these hand warmers will help keep you warm, while leaving your fingers free.
This pattern is worked with two strands of contrasting colored yarns. I recommend using lighter sport weight yarns. The size of these wrist warmers can be adjusted using larger or smaller yarns and needles. They are worked in the round with increases for the thumb.
