Dystopia is an imaginary futuristic environment in which people often lead dehumanized and fearful lives. There is great suffering and injustice, usually in conjunction with some type of apocalypse, whether that be a natural disaster, contagious virus, or brutal warfare. Film and literature have painted countless depictions of what these horrific worlds might look like, but if you ask me, reality has come pretty close to reflecting them. Reminiscent of filtered masks, bullet proof vests, and utility belts, this pattern is a symbolic form of protection, something that offers a small amount of courage and strength at a time when there isn’t much to go around.

Dystopia is knit from the top down. The cowl is worked in the round and then split for each of the panels. The straps branch off of the back and drape around to the front, where they are secured with a modified Mattress Stitch technique. An I Cord bind off completes the cowl for an edgy, modern look.

There are two basic size options available and the straps can be made to any length:

Size 1
Cowl Circumference: 20 inches
Bust Measurement: 30-40 inches

Size 2:
Cowl Circumference: 22 inches
Bust Measurement: 42-64 inches
Yardage: 480-530
