Truth be told, I did not “design” this footie. I learned it in Ladakh, North India, and wrote the pattern.

It’s an easy, knit-flat pattern, great for anyone who wants to knit socks but hasn’t taken the double-point plunge yet.

PLEASE NOTE - regarding the size: As you can see in the lower photos, the footie is very stretched along the bottom. The garter stitch sole does not reach the heel or the sides, and the back of the footie rides low on the heel. This is how it fits me, a US size 7.5. If you don’t like this, add more increase rows to your pattern. Or knit with thicker yarn.

As written, it’s more like the little stretchy pantyhose footies used for trying on shoes, rather than a roomy house slipper. I’ve noticed people saying it “doesn’t fit,” so I wanted to address this.

The yarn shown in photos is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock Multi in Daffodil colorway.
