2016 was a whirlwind of a year, and one that challenged our faith in humanity again, and again, and again. In the wake of a tumultuous US election campaign, the Women’s March on Washington is a show of solidarity for the protection of women’s rights, their safety, their health and their families (https://www.womensmarch.com/mission).

The Pussy Hat Project launched in anticipation and commemoration of the March, and aims to provide people of the Women’s March on Washington D.C. with the means to make a unique collective visual statement (https://www.pussyhatproject.com).

When I learned that my home town would also be hosting a March, I jumped at the chance to create my own contribution to the Pussy Hat Project.

This pattern, inspired by Purl Soho’s Garter Ear Flap Hat (https://www.purlsoho.com/create/2014/01/23/lauras-loop-ga...), is a great introduction to working short rows in the round, and includes two versions: The Garter and The Stockinette.
