“Early Morning Rain” is a dynamic abstract crescent shawl/scarf, knitted with a combination of texture, beads, and varying stitches, with a little flair of fringe thrown in. But don’t think tassle fringe, think knitted fringe.
This ‘thingie’ is to be read like your favorite book, with each chapter bringing on its own delightful portion of the ‘novel’, until the final ending that you create. This lovely textural design grows into something you can throw on at a moment’s notice, with jeans and a sweater, or it can embellish your lovely evening attire.
Getting an exact auge isn’t important. The design will vary, depending on your needle size paired up with your flavor of yarn choice.
The yarn used in the samples is fingering weight. Most common yardage has ranged from 425 yds. (389 meters) to 600 yds. (549 meters). Please keep in mind, that yardage and gauge will vary, depending on your knitting tension as well. One skein of Wolles Color Changing Yarn (100g) worked nicely, as well as Crystal Palace Mini-Mochi using 2.5 skeins, just to give a couple of guidelines.
Bead choices can range from no beading to 1,000 beads. The most common size used is 6/0 (3.3-3.5-3.7mm) depending on American or European sizing.
Needle options can range from US4 (3.5mm) to US7 (4.5mm), and beyond.
Sample sizes knit have ranged from 76in.(196cm) to 96in.(243cm) in length. The widest width measurement ranges from
12in.(30cm) to 16in.(41cm) with fringe measurements approximately 4-5in.(10-13cm).
All information are just ‘guidelines’ for you. Please feel free to experiment, as the pattern is YOUR freedom template, to try what you may be most comfortable with and the look you desire.
The pattern is written out only and lengthy, giving line-by-line instruction~ showing a photo gallery as well. Please check the numbering of pages, for printing purposes, as you won’t have to print them all out, to enjoy the flexibility of the pattern.
