Do you love collecting mini-skeins?  Do you need to collect more mini-skein patterns to make use of your awesome stash? This project uses nine typically-sized mini-skeins and one slightly larger mini. Each of the five motifs uses two colors. The intervening Latvian Braids weave colors from each section together to create one cohesive shawl.

Ketchikan is surrounded by breathtaking national forest, teeming waters, and electrifying northern lights. It is a perfect example of complex interwoven natural forces. This shawl uses five pairs of mini-skeins to illustrate that interaction. Each pair showcases a different pattern and is connected to its neighbor by a Latvian Braid.

You’ll be using different techniques for each section. The first is worked in slip stitch, the second in intarsia lace, the third in slip stitch and the fourth in a color-faded lace. The final border is worked in an intarsia lace.

Because you’ll be working in mini skeins, be ready to weave in several ends before blocking. It’ll be worth it, though!
