Easy Aussie Edging I
This reversible edging was called “Edging No. 1” in the Australian newspaper, Fitzroy City Press, 24 January 1890. With just 10 stitches to start and 4 pattern rows, it’s suitable for a newer knitter. I fixed an error in the first row and changed the selvage stitch for easier sewing later.
This edging can be blocked straight or curved.
The sample is 1.5 inches wide at the points when knitted to gauge.
Skills needed: cast on, slip purl-wise, knit, yarn over, yarn over twice, knit and purl in the double yarn over, k2tog and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able thread/yarn will work. Make a swatch to check size and appearance.
6 yards of #10 crochet cotton thread will make about 2.3 inches of edging in the stated gauge.
