This is a knitting pattern for an adorable baby elf beanie with a cable on the front, with long tail and pom pom.

You can knit this up in an evening, or two, and they are so soft and squishy, that you will want to make a whole bunch of them for your baby! One of these hats would also be a lovely baby-shower gift.
How about knitting one in red with a white pom pom for a Christmas baby,
or a pom pom in rainbow colours for a rainbow-baby!

Sizes given are for 0-6 months and 6 months- 2 years old.

Skill level : for a Beginner that is able to knit, purl, decrease, and knit a simple cable

Yarn: Aran knit yarn ( I used Drops Air) that knits up quickly
Needles : 4.5mm / US 7
The pattern is knit on straight needles (back and forth, not in the round)
